The Talgo RD variable gauge system
@daedalus in all seriousness, the Talgo system is really interesting and is worth looking at in the Victorian railway context. I am led to believe that V/Line gave the tech a cursory glance in the 80s but management had a “Not Invented Here” attitude on top of their usual tight capital constraints that led to it going nowhere.
Hopefully the more current Canberra/NSW proposal eventually gets up, I really like the Talgo system.
